How We Started
Back in 2018, my twin brother and I came up with a great idea. We went to our parents and asked for a meaningful Christmas gift - mowing equipment. The reason behind it was simple: we wanted to start a mowing business and earn some extra money before college.
Our parents were incredibly supportive and came through with the equipment we needed to kickstart our venture. It was a modest gift, but it meant the world to us. We started with just the basics - a push mower, a weedeater, and a handheld blower - all neatly arranged in the bed of our trusty old pickup truck.
In those early days, Dad stepped in as our mentor, driving us around Granbury and offering guidance until we were ready to take charge on our own. Despite the challenges of managing school, sports, and building a small clientele, our determination never wavered.
Lutgen Lawn Care became our passion project, teaching us valuable lessons about hard work and entrepreneurship. Little did we know that this thoughtful gift from our parents would lay the foundation for a thriving business, shaping our lives in ways we could have never imagined. We're forever grateful for their support and excited for the exciting journey ahead!
How It Is Going
As our little mowing venture gained traction, my twin brother and I recognized the need for expansion. We made a decisive move and invested in a high-quality zero-turn mower and a dependable trailer. The decision paid off splendidly! Our customer base expanded rapidly, and our aspirations soared.
With time passing swiftly, our unwavering dedication bore fruit. We attracted numerous clients, and the potential for even greater growth became evident. Buoyed by this newfound momentum, we took our equipment inventory to the next level. Acquiring seven powerful SCAG zero-turn mowers, multiple trailers, and a versatile set of power tools, we positioned ourselves to tackle a wide range of lawn and landscaping tasks with finesse.
Our modest duo transformed into a well-organized team, now comprising five committed full-time workers. This includes my brother and me, with 2 other brothers. With the valuable support of two part-time teammates. We also employ full-time high schoolers during the summer. From a humble Christmas gift to a expanding lawn care and landscaping business, this journey has been a remarkable one, and we eagerly anticipate the bright future ahead for Lutgen Lawn Care.
